Even more James Toseland

James comments on BBC Sports Personality of the Year

"I'm really pleased to have finished fourth in the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year. I'd like to thank all my fans who have supported me throughout my career so far, and who picked the phone up on Sunday to vote for me.

Many of my sponsors including Bennetts, HANNspree and the Phil Burgan Race Academy worked really hard to help generate phone votes for me and - as I was only 710 votes away from third place - they did an excellent job.

"I am slightly disappointed with the lack of specialist press support ahead of the event. It seems that since I did well it has become newsworthy, but a little extra support ahead of Sunday might have helped me clinch that third place.

Although it was fantastic to be recognised as a sportsman on a national level alongside athletes, rugby players and boxers, my hope was to help fly the flag for motorcyclists across the country and bring the sport of motorcycle racing to a wider audience."
